The Coronapocalypse & TSB

By now you might have heard about this little bug going around, she said with dripping sarcasm. I’m also sure that you’ve gotten emails from every business you even sort of heard of explaining how they’re dealing with it and how it may affect your future purchases. Welp, now it’s my turn.

Let me start by saying that everyone in the house is healthy and showing absolutely zero signs of anything (except boredom because there is “absolutely nothing fun to do in this house, mom!”). That being said, I’m still sanitizing everything that comes in from the outside. My studio gets daily lysol and bleach baths and supplies that come in (no matter from where in the world they are from), are sanitized and quarantined. Basically this means I spray the ever loving stuffing out of the box with lysol and then set it aside for two weeks. Why two weeks? Because I can’t find a straight answer as to how long the virus can survive on surfaces. The NIH says a few hours to four days, but I’m preferring to err on the side of caution. The exception to this practice are things that won’t be damaged by straight sterilization, mini funnels for urns and packaging supplies, for example.

When I’m in the studio, I’m almost always wearing a mask, gloves and safety goggles. The mask because breathing in steel wool dust, soldering fumes, etc. is not good, and the gloves because I hate getting my hands dirty when polishing. The safety goggles are so I don’t lose an eye, not to prevent anything viral. I’m also obsessive about washing my hands, because, I’m weird about dirty hands.

At this point in time, I’m not planning on shutting down. There are a few supplies that I can’t get at the moment because they originate in Italy or China, but I should be ok for a while and am hopeful that things will get better and everyone will be able to resume their daily lives again.

And because I know a lot of us are stuck with little humans who think everything is boring here, here is a list of a bunch of really awesome free educational sites for them to check out while they’re home.
